Denis Brown & Son is a family run business. We’ve been based in Woodchester, near Stroud for over 40 years.

The business traces its roots back to Leyburn, North Yorkshire where the family were farmers. Late in the 19th century we diversified into timber haulage and extraction.

Denis Brown finally settled in Woodchester in 1927, hauling timber mainly for local sawmill H. Workman.

We continued hauling timber until the early 1990s when we diversified into retail, selling timber, fencing and related products.

Today our product range is broad. We offer a large range of timber and fencing products including garden buildings, internal oak doors, decking, cedar roofing shingles and seasonal items such as Christmas trees.


We carry a large stock at all times and have several display areas in our yard where you can come and browse. If you need advice on any timber related matter, we’re always pleased to help – we haven’t stayed in business this long without learning a few things about our products and how to look after customers.

We regularly attend local shows where we display many of our products. If you see our stand, come and say hello.
